PRODUCT LAUNCH – “New Video Fiber Link from SSi”

RE: Model FBAV-TX/RX

Dallas Texas based Sundance Systems Inc. will introduce the FBAV-TX/RX video link into the “Fibox” series of fiber optic transmission products at NAB 2001 show in Las Vegas. The Model FBAV-TX/RX is a 10-Bit, NTSC/PAL video, fiber optic link system in a 1/3-rack space extrusion enclosure. The product utilizes the latest in 10 bit A/D - D/A converters and telecommunications grade fiber optics to provide digital performance at an analog price. The new product will compliment the existing Fibox analog and digital audio products. “This marks a significant development in the companies history”, states Hamilton Johnson Vice President of Fibox Products Division of SSi (Sundance Systems, Inc.).

Fibox will offer broadcasters a complete range of products to be used in production, studio transmission links and field ENG/Field Production on fiber optics. Fibox now offers a complete audio, video and data product offering for the professional teleproduction requirements on glass. The FBAV will be offered in standard 1310nm multimode with optional single mode lasers at 1310nm and 1550nm wavelengths.

The system is flat to 7Mhz of baseband NTSC/PAL video bandwidth at >68dB S/N weighted, exceeding 250C short haul specifications. The unique product packaging allows for the user to purchase a single ended transmitter and receiver or a transceiver in 1/3-rack space housing. This will accommodate a transmitter and a receiver for convenient send/receive video to cameras and video devices, creating a bi-directional fiber link. This also will reduce space requirements in mobile and studio production racks to one half of their existing Fibox requirements.

The newly expanded product family will include several new models over the next year with the addition of stereo 24-bit audio on the current FBAV video link. The entire product line will be offered in the current 1/3 rack space Fibox interlocking aluminum extrusion. A serial (601) digital version (Model FBAV-SD) will be offered as well in the future.
